Fraglia Vela Riva is the winner of Trofeo Simone Lombardi 2022

With almost 400 competitors (280 Juniors and 100 cadets) the 28th edition of the Simone Lombardi 2022 Trophy took place from 9th to 11th August at the Fraglia Vela Malcesine.
Great representation of nations participating with Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Lithuania, Malta, Nederlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, United States of America and of course Italy. Sponsors of the event are the large-scale distribution group Eurospar / Despar, the Bindi company, Speck Stube, Foto Mercato Verona and the technical sponsors Negrinautica, Helly Hansen, One sail and Armare Ropes.
First day of races marked by the Ora wind, with the three Juniores fleets and the Cadetti fleet completing three races each. With the partials of 1,3,1, the home athlete Bianca Marchesini, fresh from the European bronze medal, is placed at the top of the rankings, followed by Sebastiano Macarini and Alberto Avanzini from Centro Nautico Bardolino. Mattia Cesare Valentini from Circolo Velico Torre del Lago Puccini holds command of the Cadetti fleet.
A sweet return after the regattas, thanks to the snacks offered by Bindi with donuts and stuffed donuts.
On the second day of the Trophy a more intense Ora wind up to 13 knots, and with three further races, one discard takes over and Alberto Avanzini from Centro Nautico Bardolino takes the lead. Bianca Marchesini goes in second position with only two points behind Avanzini. Provisional leadership unchanged in the cadetti category, with Mattia Cesare Valentini firmly in first place.
One of the most awaited moments of the regatta has always been the prize draw for athletes and coaches offered by the club sponsors. Winner of the Optimist Winner Tito Arturo Scontrino from Circolo Vela Gargnano.
On the third day the Ora wind is delayed, but at 2pm the Race Committee manages to start the Gold fleet and to bring home two races for all the fleets on the race course.
Alberto Avanzini from Centro Nautico Bardolino maintains the overall leadership, despite a misstep in the first race of the day, and closes with 20 points advantage over the second classified: Erik Scheidt from Fraglia Vela Riva. The podium is closed by Sviatoslav Madonich, of the Optimist Sailing Team Ukraine, author of an excellent comeback. First place female for Bianca Marchesini from Fraglia Vela Malcesine. No overturning instead in the cadetti fleet, with the confirmation in first place of Mattia Cesare Valentini (Circolo Velico Torre del Lago Puccini), with 4 partial victories. Second step of the podium and first female place for Ginevra Rovaglia (Centro Nautico Bardolino), followed by Andrea Goffi of the Società Canottieri Garda Salò. The Simone Lombardi Trophy 2022 goes to Fraglia Vela Riva, thanks to the excellent results of Erik Scheidt (2nd), Andrea Demurtas (4th) and Leonardo Grossi (6th).
