VelaScuola Project at Lake Garda

Do you want to let your class experience a unique experience? Do you want your pupils to enjoy a day outdoors, in contact with nature and the elements? Do you want to offer a teaching experience, highly motivating and that helps improve group dynamics?

Take part in our VelaScuola project

VelaScuola is the project created by the Italian Sailing Federation in collaboration with MIUR (School, University and Research Ministry), that brings sailing inside the school during the school year:  with the theory part in classrooms and the practice side on water, with the Sailing Clubs affiliated to the Italian Sailing Federation.

For us it all started with sailing promotion and the strong collaboration with the schools in Malcesine and Brenzone.

With the VelaScuola project, sailing becomes a real subject of the school program for children in Malcesine and Brenzone and it can be part of the official teaching plan (Piano dell’Offerta Formativa).

Later, we decided to propose this experience to all schools in Verona and Trento provinces. During the years requests from schools increased a lot, bringing us to propose the following activities:

• theoretical lessons
• keelboat sailing
• kayaking

In May and September there are many students who come to visit us for their first sailing experience.

These are our proposals:

OPTION 1

For groups of 15 to 40 students, our proposal includes a full day at our Sailing Club. After a brief theory introduction, we move on to practical activity. There are two activities on offer: sailing on cabin cruisers and kayaking.

This is the typical program of a day spent with us:

• 09.30-10.00 arrival and welcome
• 10.00-10.30 brief theory lesson
• 10.30-12.30 1st water activity
• 12.30-14.00 lunch break
• 14.00-16.00 2nd water activity

Times are indicative and flexible based on weather conditions and your specific needs.

OPTION 2

For groups of 41 to 60 students, our proposal includes half a day at our Sailing Club and the other half in the historic center of Malcesine town, where we recommend the visit to the Scaligero Castle.

We divide the group into two smaller groups of up to 30 students, and we alternate them into the activities.

The program of the first group will be:

• 09.30-10.00 arrival and welcome
• 10.00-11.15 1st water activity
• 11.15-12.30 2nd water activity
• 12.30-14.00 lunch break
• 14.00-16.00 visit of the historic center town and the Scaligero Castle

The second group will visit the Scaligero Castle in the morning and nautical activities in the afternoon.
